‘Buddha’ means ‘Enlightened One’ - with no gender specification, meaning that anyone can seek and reach enlightenment. Lady Buddha achieved the boundless compassion and wisdom of spiritual enlightenment without defying her womanhood, and resolved to only ever be reborn in a female form, so that she may always care for women and female animals. She will bring you inner peace, endless compassion and release from suffering.
In Tantric Buddhism, the Lady Buddha is often known as Tārā, a savior Goddess who delivers the souls of suffering beings. Her white topaz halo is a symbol of angelic comfort and deliverance, particularly for women and female animals.
Some myths say she was born of the flowering lotus that grew from the tears of a god. Others say that she was a princess who was advised by monks to be reborn as a man in order to reach a state of spiritual awakening and enlightenment.
Deeming these monks “weak minded worldlings” for thinking gender was a barrier to spiritual enlightenment, Lady Buddha cultivated spiritual awakening, symbolized by this pendant's cut out rays of enlightenment, and discovered true, boundless compassion for the suffering of others.
